Lionel S. Lofton

Lionel S. Lofton graduated from Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina in 1967. Following graduation, Mr. Lofton taught school at Gaffney High School in Gaffney, SC for one year prior to attending law school. Mr. Lofton received his juris doctorate from the University of South Carolina in 1971 and was admitted to the South Carolina Bar that same year.

Mr. Lofton served as the head of the Criminal Division for the United States Attorney's office in Charleston straight out of law school. He served as Assistant United States Attorney until February of 1983. During his tenure with the United States Attorney's office, Mr. Lofton took a 6-month leave in 1975 to serve as legal advisor to Governor James Edwards.

In 1983, after twelve years as a Federal Prosecutor, Mr. Lofton opened a private practice, the Law Offices of Lionel S. Lofton. His experience and tenure in the United States Attorney's office facilitated the development of not only a statewide, but also a national practice.
